Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) Blason de L'Evangile Magnum HK

Blason de L'Evangile is the second wine of Château L'Évangile in Pomerol – vinified by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), who have owned the château since 1990. The magnum bottling matures more slowly and evenly than the standard bottle, which gives the wine additional depth and complexity over the years.

Pomerol is known for its Merlot-dominated wines grown on iron-rich soils – the so-called crasse de fer. This defines the style: fully ripe blackberry and plum, underpinned by a hint of graphite and cedar. The tannins are ripe and velvety, the acidity well-integrated, and the finish long and spicy. Typical of the appellation is a dense, fleshy mid-palate without the heaviness of some neighboring regions.

Best served between 16 and 18 °C , ideally decanted an hour before pouring. Drinking window varies by vintage: from about five years after harvest, with potential for a further ten to fifteen years of aging. Pairs well with braised leg of lamb, entrecôte with herb butter, or a robust Comté cheese. A magnum also makes a fitting gift for occasions where a standard bottle would be insufficient.
