Chanson Mercurey Rouge

Chanson Mercurey Rouge is a red wine from the Mercurey region in the Côte Chalonnaise in Burgundy, France, produced by Domaine Chanson. The wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown on a mid-slope, southeast-facing vineyard with clay to calcareous soils that promote a delicate, crystalline fruitiness.

In the glass, it displays a bright, brilliant ruby red with a slight purple shimmer. The nose is delicately aromatic with ripe raspberry, strawberry, and strawberry jam notes , a subtle floral hint of rose petals, a touch of licorice, spices, and a subtle vanilla touch from the oak aging. On the palate, the Mercurey Rouge is elegant, lively, and juicy, with clear, well-integrated acidity, fine, well-integrated tannins, and a dense yet very drinkable texture.

The wine typically matures in small oak barrels ( pièces ), sometimes with a small proportion of new oak, which imparts a subtle spiciness and warmth without overpowering the Pinot fruit. It is ideally served at 14–16 °C and pairs perfectly with beef and poultry dishes, game, mushroom dishes, or regional cheeses. Thanks to its crisp structure, it is suitable both for early enjoyment and for several years of aging, during which the aromas and tannins will continue to harmonize.

Domaine Chanson

Domaine Chanson, founded in 1750, is one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in Burgundy. It is among the few estates that have survived since the 18th century. Since 1999, it has been part of the Bollinger Group, which has undertaken extensive restorations and modernizations to make the winery one of the finest in Burgundy. Nestled amidst picturesque hills, the 45 hectares of vineyards flourish in the most prestigious appellations, including Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Chablis. Here, tradition and modernity blend seamlessly, creating a unique symbiosis that imparts a distinctive character to each wine. The historic Bastion, a 15th-century wine cellar, is the heart of the estate. Within these venerable walls, the wines mature to true perfection under ideal conditions. Each bottle tells a story of dedication and craftsmanship.
