A Speyside single malt that doesn't hide its sherry cask: The Auchroisk 2016 vintage matured for seven years in a 1st fill sherry butt and comes into the bottle at 47.5% vol.

It was bottled by Càrn Mòr in the Strictly Limited series, a range of single-cask bottlings from Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers. The Auchroisk distillery is located in Speyside. As is usual with this series, the whisky remains without chill filtration and without coloring. A first-fill sherry cask gives up much of its character, which is why it significantly shapes the malt.

Typical for this cask type are dark fruits like raisins and plums, along with walnut, cocoa, and spicy oak. You can discover the exact character of this cask yourself with the first sip. It is best enjoyed neat in a nosing glass. With a few drops of water, the cask spice opens up a bit, and the fruit notes emerge more clearly. A malt for quiet evenings and for those who want to experience sherry cask influence in a concentrated way.
