Islay
Islay is considered the smokiest whisky region in the world. The small Scottish island in the Atlantic shapes its Single Malt Whiskies through intense peat smoke, iodine, and an unmistakable salty sea note – a character that arises from the boggy soil, the damp climate, and the centuries-old distillation tradition. No other whisky region in the world produces this combination of power, depth, and maritime spice with comparable consistency.
At Vinoscout, you will find a carefully curated selection of over 10 Islay products that brings you closer to the entire spectrum of this fascinating island – from more accessible entry-level options to sophisticated rarities, enabling both initial explorations and special bottles for enjoyment at the highest level.

Islay Whisky – Smoke, salt, and character from Scotland's wild island
Islay is a small island off the Scottish west coast – and at the same time one of the most famous whisky addresses in the world. What makes Islay whiskies so unmistakable is their character: powerful peat smoke, a distinct sea breeze, and a depth that hardly any other region achieves. Anyone who has ever tasted a real Islay Single Malt will not forget it anytime soon.
However, Islay is not a one-size-fits-all. Ardbeg stands for intense, dry smoke with great complexity – the Ardbeg Ten Years Old is considered a classic of the style, while the Ardbeg An Oa shows a somewhat rounder, more accessible side. Bruichladdich, on the other hand, consciously takes a different path: the Classic Laddie is produced unpeated and proves that Islay can also fascinate without smoke. Bunnahabhain, with its 12 Years Old, also leans more towards the milder, maritime side of the island.
The fact that bottles from Dalmore and Jura can also be found in the assortment shows the range: those who want to get to know the more elegant side of Scottish Single Malts alongside the Islay style will find a nice introduction to the variety here.
