Mac-Talla Mara is an Islay single malt at cask strength: smoky, salty, and bottled without dilution. At 58.2% ABV, it shows the maritime side of the island from its edgy side.

It was bottled by Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers. The whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks and comes into the bottle in its natural state. The Islay origin defines the style: peat, sea air, and coast.

On the nose, campfire smoke and citrus meet freshly ground pepper. On the palate, powerful peat smoke combines with malty sweetness; the high strength remains cleanly integrated. Atlantic hints and a salty coastal note accompany you into the very long finish, which remains peaty and is carried by spicy oak.

Try it neat first, then with a few drops of still water, which opens up the smoke and citrus further. A dram for a quiet evening, especially if you like Islay intense and close to the coast.
