The Bunnahabhain 12 Years Old is not a typical Islay whisky – and that's precisely what makes it so special. Anyone who previously thought Islay automatically meant pure peat and smoke will be pleasantly surprised. This bottling is aimed at all those who want to delve into the world of Scottish single malts without immediately venturing into the darker end – and equally at experienced connoisseurs who value elegance over intensity.

Pronounced "buu-na-hä-venn," the Gaelic name means something like "river mouth" —a reference to the Margadale River, whose pure spring water forms the basis of every drop. The whisky matures for 12 years in a combination of old sherry, bourbon, and multi-use oak casks. Bottled at 46.3% ABV , unfiltered at room temperature and without added coloring, its character remains completely intact.

On the nose, it opens with juicy, sweet cherries and ripe apples. On the palate, it is unusually soft: malt, buttery caramel, and marzipan carry the first wave, before ginger and a subtle hint of smoke define the finish.
