The Old Perth Original is a Blended Malt Scotch Whisky with a clear sherry signature. It combines exclusively Speyside Single Malts from the Glenlivet region that have been matured in sherry casks.

The brand dates back to 1908, when Peter Thomson introduced a high-quality Blended Scotch in Perth. After a long hiatus, Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers has relaunched Old Perth as a Blended Malt. It is bottled at 46% ABV.

On the nose, spicy sherry and dark chocolate meet blackberries, fresh cherries, toffee, and fudge. On the palate, fruity sweetness, raisins, and chocolate appear, along with fine spice notes, a trace of pepper, and subtle oak. The finish is long: sherry spice, sweetness, and a hint of ginger.

Recommendation: Neat in a nosing glass, preferably with a few drops of water to open up the fruit. It also works well on a large ice cube, perhaps in the evening after a meal.
