Am 2 Shiraz Mataro
Since 1960, Bin 2 has been a staple of the Penfolds range — an Australian interpretation of the classic Rhône blend of Shiraz and Mataro (Mourvèdre).
Penfolds is one of Australia's most important wineries, with roots in the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale. For decades, the Bin series has stood for consistent craftsmanship: each vintage is assembled from the best available parcels from South Australia, matured in American and French oak barrels.
In the glass, the Bin 2 displays dark plum and blackberry, underpinned by licorice, black pepper, and a hint of toasted oak. The tannins are present but rounded—the wine has structure without harshness. Medium-long finish with a touch of spice.
Serving suggestion: Serve at 16–18 °C. Pairs well with braised lamb, pulled pork, or strong hard cheeses. Ready to drink young; it gains depth with two to four years of cellaring.
