Banyul's Vin Doux Naturel fruity sweet
Gérard Bertrand 's Banyuls Vin Doux Naturel is a sweet wine from southern France for those who long for a glass that combines depth, warmth and a velvety sweetness – without feeling heavy.
Single-varietal Grenache from old vines, harvested late in October, brings a natural concentration that you'll immediately notice. Fermentation is stopped by adding alcohol – classic for a Vin Doux Naturel – and the wine matures on the grape skins for four to six weeks. The result: roasted almonds, nuts, caramel, and preserved fruits , enveloped in a delicately creamy, never overpowering sweetness. Bottled directly after maceration, it retains its vibrant fruit aromas.
Ideal as an accompaniment to dark chocolate, nut desserts or blue cheese. Also a true moment of indulgence on its own – slightly chilled.
