About Sacchetto

From Sisto to Paolo: three generations in the heart of the Veneto

The beginnings of Sacchetto date back to the early years of the 20th century, when Sisto Sacchetto began trading wine and grapes in the province of Padua. In the economically booming 1950s and 1960s, he took the next step: instead of buying in grapes from others, he established his own vineyards, laying the foundation for a producing winery. His son Filiberto took over the business and gave it an international focus at its headquarters in Trebaseleghe, about 25 kilometers northwest of Venice. Today, Filiberto's children, Paolo and Beatrice, continue to run the company — with the same ambition their grandfather had formulated: grapes from their own home region, wines with a clear profile of origin.

Prapian estate, steep slopes and controlled cellars

The heart of their own production is the family estate Prapian in the hills north of Treviso. 45 hectares are located in the DOCG Valdobbiadene, another 20 hectares in the DOCG Asolo-Nervesa — two appellations known for their climatic diversity, different soil profiles, and hand-harvested steep terraces. The differences in altitude, the proximity to the Adriatic coast and the first foothills of the Alps, as well as the changing soil structures even within closely adjacent plots, noticeably shape the character of the grapes. In the cellar, Sacchetto relies on temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks and a continuously modernized machine park — a production approach that prioritizes freshness and varietal typicity. Sustainable cultivation and careful yield management are not marketing promises here, but the declared basis of the work in the vineyard.

Fresh style between Glera, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay

Sacchetto does not stand for a single wine, but for a wide range that reflects the Veneto in all its grape variety diversity. Glera as the basis of the Prosecco line — from the lightly sparkling Frizzante to the vintage-focused Millesimato Extra Dry — is, alongside Pinot Grigio, the most planted variety in the company. The Pinot Grigio appears in different styles: as a clear, fruit-driven everyday wine from the Venezie, but also as a lighter rosé interpretation. Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Bianco di Custoza expand the white wine spectrum; the wines come into the glass bright and acidic, with an aroma profile that reflects the cool nights and mineral soils of northeastern Italy. Sparkling wine is no side program at Sacchetto: the Mille-Bolle line — including a Brut Rosé made from Pinot Nero — shows how much scope the region offers for sparkling wines beyond the classic Prosecco scheme. Anyone looking for Venetian wines with a concrete reference to their origin and without heaviness will find what they are looking for in this assortment.
