From Sisto Sacchetto to the third generation: a Venetian family history

Cantine Sacchetto was founded at the beginning of the 20th century in Trebaseleghe, a small town in the triangle of the provinces of Treviso, Padua, and Venice — about 25 kilometers northwest of Venice. Founder Sisto Sacchetto was already trading in grapes and wines in the post-war period and built up a growing business through technical know-how and commercial skill. In the economic miracle years of the 1950s and 1960s, he drove the decisive further development: instead of just marketing purchased wine, he wanted to grow the grapes for his wines himself from then on and thus keep the entire production process in family hands.

Sisto's son Filiberto took over this legacy and permanently anchored the business in Trebaseleghe. Under his leadership, the Cantina increasingly gained international appeal. Today, Filiberto and his son Paolo — together with Paolo's sister Beatrice — continue to run the company as a modern family winery in the third generation. The Villa Santa Flavia line represents the house's still wines.

Tradition as a working basis, not a decorative promise

The guiding principle that Filiberto Sacchetto gave the business is direct: "Our name is on the label — we vouch for the contents." This is expressed in concrete decisions: the grapes for the Villa Santa Flavia line are harvested by hand, carefully selected, and gently processed to preserve the varietal characteristics. For the white wines, temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks are used, which ensure freshness and fruit; the Cabernet is aged for twelve months in barriques. The winery invests continuously in modern technology and the further training of its team — not to replace tradition, but to secure it through craftsmanship.

At the same time, Sacchetto resists the pressure of the mass market. Even in the face of increased demand for Prosecco, the house has refrained from purchasing cheap goods and consistently relies on controlled quality from Veneto and Friuli.

Varietal still wines for everyday life with high standards

The Villa Santa Flavia line includes the classic grape varieties of northeastern Italian viticulture: Pinot Grigio DOC, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon — all available in liter and magnum bottles, which makes the wines attractive for larger gatherings or regular enjoyment. The Pinot Grigio shows the profile typical of Veneto: dry, fresh, with subtle fruit, ideal with fish and light meat, best served between 8 and 10 °C. The Chardonnay remains fruit-driven and accessible. With Merlot, red berry fruit and soft tannin dominate; the Cabernet Sauvignon brings more structure, dark fruit, and depth through barrique aging. All wines are designed for near-term enjoyment — not a storage project, but honest everyday companions with a clear origin.
