Heartland Wines –
South Australia's power, tamed by the Lake Wind
Heartland Wines is located directly on Lake Alexandrina in southern Australia – and the location is no coincidence. Every afternoon, a cool breeze sweeps across the vines from the lake, lowering the temperature by around ten degrees within two hours. For the grapes, this means: longer ripening time, greater aromatic depth, and more freshness.
Behind these wines is Ben Glaetzer , one of South Australia's most experienced winemakers. He works with old vines that reach deep into the soil and deliver concentrated fruit – Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Dolcetto. His aim is not style for style's sake: he seeks the point where the warmth of the continent and the coolness of the lake merge into a harmonious whole. Dense, dark fruit meets structure and a long, clean finish.
Heartland's wines aren't showpieces – they taste of place. Of red earth, eucalyptus, and the wind from the lake. Anyone looking for Australian wine beyond the big brand names will find an honest, characterful alternative here.
