Heartland Wines is located in the south of Australia, where Lake Alexandria sends a cool breeze inland every afternoon. The temperature drop of around ten degrees within two hours noticeably slows the ripening of the grapes – the result is wines with more freshness and depth than one would expect from a warm wine-growing climate.
Behind the wines is Ben Glaetzer, who combines the intensity of old vines from McLaren Vale with a feel for elegance. Not heavy blockbusters, but wines with structure, fruit, and a clear origin profile – Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon that taste of the red soil and the eucalyptus bush of the region.
