Viognier Les Mijanelles

A Viognier from the Languedoc that shows what this grape variety is capable of when it reaches full ripeness in a warm, dry climate: lush aromatics, but with enough structure to ensure it doesn't feel too heavy on the palate.

Château Fontarèche is located in the heart of the Languedoc-Roussillon, one of France's oldest wine regions. The estate cultivates its vineyards on calcareous-clay soils, which provide the wines with a certain freshness even in hot years. The Les Mijanelles bears the name of a traditional term for wine plots in the region — a nod to the local connection that is typical for Fontarèche.

In the glass, the wine smells of white peach, apricot, and orange blossom — the classic aroma profile of ripe Viognier. This is accompanied by a subtle spicy note that gives the wine depth. On the palate, it is full-bodied with soft acidity and a long, slightly floral finish. Vinified dry, with no residual sugar.

Pairs well with roasted chicken breast with herbs de Provence, a creamy chicken curry, or goat cheese. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.
