Cuvée PICAPOLLE BLANC

In the heart of the Languedoc, surrounded by the rugged nature of the Corbières, lies the traditional Château Fontarèche. The historic winery is one of the oldest in the region and stands for wines that precisely capture the Mediterranean climate of Southern France. The Cuvée Picapolle Blanc is a tribute to the classic white grape varieties of the south, significantly carried by sun-drenched Grenache Blanc.

In the glass, its origin is revealed through a clear, varietal-typical profile. Aromas of white peach, fresh citrus zest, and a hint of white blossoms characterize the first impression. On the palate, the dry white wine unfolds a palpable tension: the natural fullness of the Grenache Blanc is balanced by a structuring acidity. The finish is straightforward and concludes with a fresh, finely spiced note, completely without intrusive heaviness.

This Southern French white wine calls for light, Mediterranean cuisine. It accompanies grilled sea bream with herbs de Provence, fresh seafood, or a mild goat cheese. Serve it at 8 to 10 °C to optimally bring out its floral and light-fruity nuances.

The Château

Chateau Fontarèche

Between Narbonne and Carcassonne, in the heart of the Languedoc, lies Château Fontarèche – one of the oldest wineries in the Corbières appellation. The Château has been family-owned since 1682: at that time, Pierre Mignard, portrait painter to Louis XIV, acquired the estate. Today, the de Lamy family, direct descendants of the Mignards, continues the legacy in the ninth generation – together with a team led by director Vincent Dubernet.

Over 17 different grape varieties grow on more than 130 hectares around the Château: Syrah, Carignan, and Grenache Blanc alongside Roussanne, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. This diversity is reflected in the range – from powerful Corbières red wines to fresh Vins de Pays d'Oc. What all the wines have in common is the Mediterranean terroir between the Mediterranean Sea and the foothills of the Pyrenees: dry summers, nutrient-poor soils, and plenty of sun.
