Villa Gresti di San Leonardo Rosso Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 1.5L

The Villa Gresti is the Merlot from the house of San Leonardo: a dry red wine with depth and polish, here in the 1.5-liter magnum, which is perfect for larger groups and the cellar.

San Leonardo is located in Trentino, in the South Tyrolean lowlands near the border to the Veneto, and bottles its wines as Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT. The Villa Gresti consists of 90% Merlot and 10% Carmenère, which gives the wine structure and spice. It matures for 12 months in small French oak barrels and then lies in the bottle for another 12 months.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red. On the nose, plum and cherry meet spices and a fine vanilla note from the wood. On the palate, it feels velvety and full-bodied, the tannins are soft, the finish is long. Serve it at 16–18 °C, ideally after decanting briefly. It goes well with braised roasts, beef fillet with pepper jus, game dishes or long-aged hard cheese.

San Leonardo

San Leonardo stands for wines from Trentino, one of Italy's most exciting red wine regions. At Vinoscout, you will find the range in a price range of around 17 to 94 euros – from accessible entry-level wines to ambitious cuvées.

The focus is on powerful red wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, and Lagrein, as well as a fresh Sauvignon Blanc that makes the estate's alpine origin palpable.
