Scavi & Ray Primitivo Salento IGT
Primitivo from Apulia — that means dark fruit, warmth, and a glass that empties itself. Scavi & Ray captures this grape variety in its most typical form.
Primitivo grapes grow in Salento, the southernmost tip of Apulia, where long hours of sunshine and dry soils concentrate the berries. This early-ripening variety develops a naturally high sugar content—some berries even dry on the vine, which intensifies the aromas and gives the wine its characteristic, full-bodied character.
In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red color. The nose offers blackberry, plum, and a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, soft tannins, noticeable warmth, and a long, fruit-driven finish without any harsh edges—approachable and direct.
This Primitivo requires no special preparation: serve at 16–18°C , and no lengthy decanting is necessary. It pairs well with pasta with ragù, grilled sausages, pizza with salami, or a mature pecorino. It also makes a great, uncomplicated red wine for an evening out.
