Salentein Barrel Selection Chardonnay

Salentein Barrel Selection Chardonnay
Twelve months in French barriques — that leaves its mark. This Chardonnay from Mendoza's Valle de Uco shows what Argentina's high-altitude climate (around 1,000 meters above sea level) can do to a classic Burgundy grape variety.
Bodegas Salenstein is one of the most renowned wineries in the Argentine Andes. This Dutch-Argentine family business cultivates its vineyards in the Valle de Uco using a strictly selective harvesting method—the Barrel Selection line exclusively processes hand-picked grapes from the best parcels.
In the glass, the wine shines a rich golden yellow. The nose offers aromas of mango, ripe yellow peach, and a hint of vanilla from the oak aging. On the palate, it is creamy and full-bodied, with a fresh acidity that balances the richness. The finish is warm, with caramel and a touch of roasted almonds.
Serving temperature: 10–12 °C . Pairs well with grilled sea bass, sole in butter sauce, veal medallions with mushroom cream sauce, or a mature Brie. Also convincing as a standalone evening wine without food.
