Portillo Malbec

The Portillo Malbec from Salentein is an accessible Argentine wine that combines the typical power of Malbec with soft melt – without the heavy wood intensity of many competitors.

Salentein is one of the most well-known wineries in Mendoza. The vines for the Portillo grow in the Uco Valley, a high plateau at over 1,000 meters altitude at the foot of the Andes. The combination of intense sunlight and cool nights ensures ripe fruit with a simultaneously fresh structure.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red. The nose brings plum, black cherry, and a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate follows a juicy body with soft tannins and a creamy texture – no pressure, no scratching. The finish is short to medium-long, with a light cocoa note.
