Rocca Ventosa" Cerasulo d'Abruzzo Rosé DOP
The “Rocca Ventosa” from Cantina Tollo shows what distinguishes Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo from other rosé wines of Italy: not a pale summer drink, but a deep ruby pink wine with real body and character.
Cantina Tollo is one of the most important cooperatives in Abruzzo, founded in 1960 and now boasting over 3,000 hectares of vineyards on the slopes of the Majella and Gran Sasso mountains. The Cerasuolo DOC stipulates that the wine must be made exclusively from Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grapes—the intense color comes from brief skin contact, not blending. The result is a rosé that, structurally, is more akin to a light red wine than a classic Provençal style.
In the glass, it shines cherry red with pinkish reflections. The nose offers fresh sour cherry, pomegranate, and a hint of dried hibiscus. On the palate, it is juicy, with lively acidity and soft tannins that give the wine structure without being harsh. The finish is medium-long and slightly spicy.
Ready to drink now, best served between 10 and 12 °C . Pairs perfectly with grilled lamb chops, arrosticini, pasta all'amatriciana, or a summer antipasto with burrata and prosciutto.
