Riesling Kallstadter Saumagen GG

The Kallstadter Saumagen is one of the great Riesling sites of the Palatinate — and Rings shows with this Grosses Gewächs why this is so: dry, mineral, with a juiciness that keeps the wine alive despite all its austerity.

The Rings winery in Freinsheim cultivates some of the best vineyard sites in the Palatinate and has established itself in recent years as one of the most reliable producers of top-quality dry Riesling. The Saumagen vineyard—named after the Palatinate's national dish—is a limestone site that imparts a pronounced minerality and depth to the Riesling.

On the nose, light-colored minerality, citrus peel, and a hint of yeast. On the palate, the wine is very dry with intense juiciness: apple peel, yellow fruit, herbs, and a delicate malty spice. The finish is long and mineral, with a salty aftertaste that invites another sip.

Serving suggestion: Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Drinking window 2025–2032. Pairs well with pike-perch on Riesling foam, sweetbreads or mature Comté cheese.
