Riesling Vom roten Schiefer QbA trocken

A Riesling that unmistakably bears the signature of Pommer Lay: red slate-mineral, with a juicy body and a fruitiness that does not impose itself, but lingers.

Clemens Busch has been cultivating steep slate slopes on the Moselle near Pommern for decades – the red slate is not a marketing term, but a geological feature: the Devonian rock gives the soil exceptional heat retention and shapes the characteristic minerality of his wines. "Vom roten Schiefer" (From the Red Slate) is the accessible entry point into the Busch universe – a dry QbA with real substance.

On the nose, dried apples, candied stone fruit, and a subtle hint of brioche. Reductive notes keep the fruit compact and fresh. On the palate, it's juicy with noticeable depth, fine spice, and a residual sweetness that is barely perceptible but provides support. The acidity is present without being harsh – the finish is long and mineral.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C . Drinkable now, but will keep for another 3–5 years without any problems. Pairs well with trout on Riesling butter, tarte flambée with crème fraîche and onions, or a mature goat cheese.
