Püderich Marienburg Fahrlay Riesling GG

Püderich Marienburg Fahrlay Riesling GG
The Fahrlay vineyard is one of the most distinctive sites in Marienburg – and Clemens Busch produces a Riesling from it that is not so easy to categorize: dark, spicy, with a depth that one does not necessarily expect from the Mosel.
The Clemens Busch winery in Pünderich has been cultivating the steep slopes of Marienburg biodynamically for generations. The Fahrlay parcel sits on colorful Devonian slate with a high red iron content – this explains the dark, earthy character that distinguishes this wine from the light, volatile Mosel Rieslings. Spontaneous fermentation and extended lees aging are standard practice here.
On the nose, cool citrus fruit and white peach, along with blackcurrant, rosemary, and a subtle hint of bacon. On the palate, juicy, slightly sweet fruit, supported by lively acidity and a fine tannin structure that gives the wine definition and bite. The finish is long, stony and mineral, with herbal spice and a touch of rock candy.
Serving suggestion: Enjoy now with a little aeration or from 2026 onwards at full maturity. Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Pairs well with roasted lamb shoulder with a herb crust, goat cheese, or a robust fish dish such as cod with lentils.
