Pünderich Marienburg Falkenlay Riesling GG

Gray slate, a protected river bend of the Mosel, and over four decades of biodynamic viticulture — the Falkenlay parcel of the Marienburg produces Rieslings that combine fruit and minerality in an unusual way.

Clemens Busch has been managing his steep slopes in Pünderich according to biodynamic principles (Demeter-certified) since the 1980s. Within the Marienburg, the Falkenlay is considered a particularly privileged individual parcel: the gray slate stores heat, and the location in the Mosel loop protects against cold north winds. The result is Rieslings with more ripeness and texture than one often expects from the Mosel.

In the glass, it shows creamy richness — white peach, ripe mirabelle, underneath the typical slate spice and a salty-mineral aftertaste. The acidity is present but embedded; the finish is long and powerful.

Pairs with: Zander fillet on beurre blanc, lobster with lemon butter, mature Comté, or creamy pasta with truffle
