Reichsrat von Buhl Riesling dry 1.0L

A classic Palatinate Riesling that combines the strengths of the Mittelhaardt region in one bottle: the spicy depth of the Forster vineyards combined with the vibrant fruit around Deidesheim.

Reichsrat von Buhl is one of the most traditional wineries in the Palatinate region — founded in 1849, now under Japanese ownership with consistently high quality standards. The vineyards are concentrated in the best sites of the Mittelhaardt, including Forster Jesuitengarten and Deidesheimer Hohenmorgen, predominantly on weathered limestone and basalt soils.

In the glass, the Riesling displays aromas of lemon zest, ripe apple, and a hint of white pepper—typical of the spicy character of the Mittelhaardt region. The acidity is lively without being harsh, and the finish is fresh and pleasantly long. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.

Suitable for:

  • Palatinate Saumagen or hearty terrine
  • Grilled turbot or redfish with herb butter
  • Mild goat cheese or young Gouda

Reichsrat von Buhl

VDP Member Estate

In 1849, Franz Peter Buhl founded the winery in Deidesheim – emerging from the division of the Jordan estate, which also gave rise to Bassermann-Jordan and von Winning. Today, all three belong to the Niederberger Group. On approximately 56 hectares, nearly 90 percent is planted with Riesling. The top sites are located in Forst – Kirchenstück, Ungeheuer, and Pechstein – in addition to parcels in Wachenheim, Ruppertsberg, and Königsbach. The VDP estate has been organically certified since 2009 and operates biodynamically. Since 2013, the style has been shaped by Mathieu Kauffmann, formerly cellar master at Champagne Bollinger. His signature is particularly evident in the sparkling wines, which are produced using traditional bottle fermentation.
