Fiulot Barbera d'Asti DOCG
Fiulot – the Piedmontese dialect word for “young man” – perfectly captures the character of this Barbera d'Asti: uncomplicated, direct and packed with fruit.
Prunotto is one of the most renowned wineries in Piedmont and is based in Alba. Founded in 1904, the estate has been part of the Antinori Group since 1989, maintaining its focus on classic Piedmontese grape varieties such as Nebbiolo, Moscato, and, of course, Barbera. The Fiulot comes from the Asti DOCG zone, where the Barbera grape, growing on calcareous clay soils, produces particularly juicy, high-acid wines.
In the glass, it displays a bright ruby red. The nose offers fresh sour cherry, plum, and a hint of violet. On the palate, the characteristic, lively acidity carries the fruit, while the tannins remain soft and never intrusive. The finish is short to medium-long, fruity, and juicy.
Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Not very aging potential – best drunk young.
Goes well with: Pasta al ragù, pizza, grilled sausage or a relaxed evening with good friends.
