Pomares Branco white

Pomares Branco white
A fresh white wine from the Douro Valley that shows the aromatic diversity of the regional white grape varieties in an accessible, everyday style.
Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is located in the heart of the Douro Superior, not far from Pinhão. The winery belongs to the Amorim family and is primarily known for its red wines – but the Pomares Branco shows that the Douro also has more to offer in white wines than one generally expects.
It shines in a bright citrus green in the glass. The nose opens with nectarine, apricot, and white flowers – aromatic and inviting. On the palate, it feels fresh, with lively acidity and fine fruit pressure; a slight mineral note shows in the finish.
- Food pairing: Grilled fish, seafood, light pasta with lemon sauce, or young goat cheese
- Serving temperature: 10–12 °C

Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo boasts a history spanning over 250 years, and buildings dating back to its founding still stand. The winery is among the oldest in the Douro region – specifically, in the Cima Corgo sub-region. Here, on the right bank of the Douro River, the vineyards cover 120 hectares, 85 of which are designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ancient vines grow on the typical stone terraces. In 1999, the Amorin family acquired the winery, which has since become the largest family-owned winery in Portugal.
