Planeta La Segreta Grillo

Sicily in a glass: The La Segreta Grillo from Planeta is an uncomplicated white wine that brings the lightness of the Mediterranean directly to the table.

The Planeta family has been cultivating vineyards at five different locations in Sicily since the 1990s—from Menfi to Mount Etna. With their La Segreta line, they showcase the island's accessible, everyday wines. Grillo is one of Sicily's oldest indigenous grape varieties and was historically known primarily for Marsala production. Vinified as a still wine, it reveals its fresh, aromatic character.

In the glass, it displays a clear, bright yellow color. The nose is characterized by a salty, almost iodine-like freshness—followed by citrus peel, ripe pear, and a hint of dried herbs (oregano, thyme). On the palate, it is light-bodied with lively acidity and a short to medium finish.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Best enjoyed young. Pairs well with grilled calamari, burrata with tomatoes, light pasta dishes with seafood, or simply as an aperitif on a warm evening.

Planeta

The descendants of the Planeta family have now grown up. Around the fortress of Ulmo in southwestern Sicily, where the land has been cultivated for five centuries, the spark ignited new ideas and projects for viticulture. Here, the first vineyard was planted with vines in 1985. Since then, various generations of brothers and sisters, children and grandchildren have worked side by side. Their perfect understanding is based not only on the harmony of their personalities and the complementarity of their skills, but above all on a united vision: the love for this land, the desire to protect it, and the ability to imagine a new way each day to give it value.
