Planeta Etna Rosso

Nerello Mascalese from the volcano — that means: dark fruit with a light texture, tannins with real bite and a mineral character that hardly any other soil in the world provides.

Planeta has been one of the driving forces of modern Sicilian winemaking since the 1990s. With their Etna wines, they cultivate vineyards on the northern slopes of the volcano—volcanic soils of basalt and ash that give the Nerello Mascalese its distinctive structure.

In the glass, the Etna Rosso displays aromas of sour cherry and wild berries, along with notes of myrtle, undergrowth, and oriental spices. On the palate, despite its density, it is surprisingly light—typical of Nerello Mascalese, which is often compared to Pinot Noir. Rhubarb and black pepper linger in the finish, which is spicy and long.

Serving suggestion: 16–18 °C. Pairs well with grilled lamb, pasta with wild boar sauce, or strong pecorino cheese. Best enjoyed between 2024 and 2028.
