Planeta La Segreta Il Rosso

La Segreta Il Rosso is Planet's best-selling red wine – and for good reason: Sicily's sunshine is in every bottle, without the wine seeming heavy or clumsy.

Planeta is one of the wineries that put Sicily on the international map. Since the 1990s, the family has cultivated six vineyards on the island, from Menfi to Mount Etna. Their La Segreta grows around the Ulmo vineyard, which is surrounded by dense forests – hence the name, "the hidden one." The blend combines international grape varieties (Nero d'Avola, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc) to create an approachable, everyday red wine with a distinctly Sicilian character.

Deep ruby ​​red in the glass. On the nose, ripe cherry, blackberry, and cassis, underpinned by cocoa and Mediterranean herbs. Medium-bodied on the palate, soft, well-integrated tannins, lively acidity, and a pleasantly spicy finish.

Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Ready to drink now, but will keep until 2026. Pairs well with grilled lamb, pasta with ragù, mature pecorino cheese, or a platter of salumi.
