Papale Linea Oro Primitivo di Manduria DOP

Papale Linea Oro Primitivo di Manduria DOP
Primitivo di Manduria from deepest Apulia – and in this bottling from Varvaglione, the full force and warmth of the region is clearly expressed, without the wine seeming heavy.
The Varvaglione family winery has been operating in Leporano in the Ionian hinterland since 1921. For their Linea Oro, the winery draws on its oldest vineyards – low yields, old vines, deep roots in the calcareous sandy soil of Manduri. The resulting wine matures for at least eight months in barriques.
In the glass, the wine displays a dark ruby red color with violet reflections. The nose is expressive: ripe sour cherry, blackcurrant, and a hint of tobacco from the oak aging. On the palate, velvety tannins, medium acidity, and a full body – the finish is long and aromatic, with a slightly spicy note at the end.
Serve at 16–18 °C. Pairs well with braised lamb, venison ragù on wide pasta, or aged pecorino cheese. If you plan to open it before serving, decanting for one or two hours is recommended.
