"O" Riesling Reserve

The “O” Riesling Reserve from St. Antony shows how much drive and structure a Riesling from Rheinhessen can have: fresh citrus notes, a pinch of dried herbs, and a clearly perceptible minerality.

St. Antony is located in Nierstein on the Rhine, and the vineyards are situated on the Roter Hang. The “O” in the name stands for the Orbel, from which this Riesling originates. The red clay slate and Rotliegend soils of this area shape the style of many wines from there: more salt and stone than lush fruit. The wine is certified as an organic wine.

In the glass, citrus and dried herbs meet a creamy texture. The fresh acidity provides a counterpoint and gives the wine tension, while the minerality remains until the finish. The result appears elegant and balanced. Serve it at 8–10 °C with fried zander, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, chicken with lemon, or young fresh goat cheese.

Do you know what happens when a steel company decides to make wine? That's the story of St. Antony . Founded in 1920 in a former limestone quarry, the winery has catapulted itself into the absolute top tier of Rheinhessen wines.

Here, everything revolves around the legendary Roter Hang (Red Slope ). Rieslings grow on the red slate soil, and they pack a punch: mineral, smoky, and full of power [citation:3]. Organic and biodynamic farming has been practiced here since 2006 [citation:2]. The wines from the Pettenthal, Orbel, and Hipping vineyards are among the best in Germany.

Let cellar master Dirk Würtz take you on a journey – from the powerful Blaufränkisch to the elegant Riesling. A truly top German winery waiting to be discovered!
