Riesling GG Niersteiner Hipping

The Hipping site is located in a very exposed position in the Roter Hang. The Großes Gewächs comes from a special part of the Hipping, the so-called “Käferberg”. The “Käferberg” is located exactly opposite the Brudersberg and is therefore oriented to the north. This in turn means that it is significantly cooler there than in the rest of the Hipping. Fine, playful wines are created here that also work very well in hot vintages. In the nose, some apple fruit and flint minerality. On the palate, clear and finely juicy with delicate freshness and a complex herbal-yeasty fruit note. In addition, a firm body with power and backbone. Due to the trace of extract sweetness, it achieves a great balance, while retaining its playful lightness.

The Winery

St.Antony

VDP Member Estate

Do you know what happens when a steel company decides to make wine? That's the story of St. Antony . Founded in 1920 in a former limestone quarry, the winery has catapulted itself into the absolute top tier of Rheinhessen wines.

Here, everything revolves around the legendary Roter Hang (Red Slope ). Rieslings grow on the red slate soil, and they pack a punch: mineral, smoky, and full of power [citation:3]. Organic and biodynamic farming has been practiced here since 2006 [citation:2]. The wines from the Pettenthal, Orbel, and Hipping vineyards are among the best in Germany.

Let cellar master Dirk Würtz take you on a journey – from the powerful Blaufränkisch to the elegant Riesling. A truly top German winery waiting to be discovered!
