"O" Riesling Reserve

"O" Riesling Reserve
The "O" Riesling Reserve from St. Antony comes from one of the best single sites in Rheinhessen – the Niersteiner Orbel – and shows what Riesling can achieve on red slate and limestone.
St. Antony has been managing its steep slopes in Nierstein for decades with a focus on terroir-true wines. The Orbel is considered one of the most characterful sites in the region: mineral-driven, with a soil that gives the wine an unmistakable depth.
In the glass, aromas of citrus zest, dried herbs, and wet stone appear. The acidity is present but integrated – it gives the wine tension without stinging. Added to this is a creamy texture that suggests careful vinification. The finish is long, salty, with a mineral aftertaste.
Serving recommendation: Good at 10–12 °C. Pairs with zander on Riesling butter, goat cheese, or Asian-marinated poultry.

Do you know what happens when a steel company decides to make wine? That's the story of St. Antony . Founded in 1920 in a former limestone quarry, the winery has catapulted itself into the absolute top tier of Rheinhessen wines.
Here, everything revolves around the legendary Roter Hang (Red Slope ). Rieslings grow on the red slate soil, and they pack a punch: mineral, smoky, and full of power [citation:3]. Organic and biodynamic farming has been practiced here since 2006 [citation:2]. The wines from the Pettenthal, Orbel, and Hipping vineyards are among the best in Germany.
Let cellar master Dirk Würtz take you on a journey – from the powerful Blaufränkisch to the elegant Riesling. A truly top German winery waiting to be discovered!
