Nik Weis Goldtröpfchen Spätlese

Nik Weis Goldtröpfchen Spätlese
The Goldtröpfchen vineyard in Piesport is considered one of the great Riesling sites of the Mosel – steep slate slopes, maximum sunshine, cool nights. Nik Weis produces a Spätlese from it that combines classic Mosel elegance with vibrant fruit sweetness.
Nik Weis St. Urbans-Hof in Leiwen has been a VDP member since 2000 and is now run by Nik Weis, the third generation of the family to do so. Fermentation takes place with natural yeasts—an approach that gives the wine a more pronounced terroir than would be possible with a standardized, cultured yeast.
In the glass, this late harvest wine displays ripe peach and apricot fruit, underpinned by citrus zest and the typical slate notes of the vineyard. The residual sweetness is embedded in a fresh, lively acidity – not cloying, but vibrant. The finish is long, with a slightly mineral aftertaste.
Serving temperature: 8–10 °C. Pairs well with Asian dishes containing chili and ginger, with goat cheese, or as an accompaniment to fruit tarts. Drinking window: now until 2030.
