Nik Weis Goldtröpfchen Spätlese

The Goldtröpfchen site in Piesport is considered one of the great Riesling addresses of the Mosel — steep slate slopes, maximum sun exposure, cool night hours. Nik Weis produces a Spätlese from it that combines classic Mosel elegance with lively fruit sweetness.

Nik Weis St. Urbans-Hof in Leiwen has been a VDP member since 2000 and is now managed by Nik Weis in the third generation. Fermentation takes place with natural yeasts — an approach that gives the wine more of a profile of origin than a standardized pure yeast would allow.

In the glass, the Spätlese shows ripe peach and apricot fruit, underscored by citrus zest and the typical slate tone of the site. The residual sweetness is embedded in a fresh, lively acidity — no stickiness, but tension. The finish is long, with a slightly mineral aftertaste.

Serving temperature: 8–10 °C. Pairs with Asian dishes with chili and ginger, goat cheese, or as an accompaniment to fruit cake.
