Nik Weis Wiltinger Alte Rebe

Nik Weis Wiltinger Alte Rebe
Vines rooted in the soil since 1905 need no explanation—they speak through the wine. The Wiltinger Alte Rebe from Nik Weis is a local wine that demonstrates what red Devonian slate and extreme root depth can achieve with Riesling.
St. Urbans-Hof on the Saar is one of the most reliable producers of minerally precise Rieslings. The Wiltingen vineyard faces south, ensuring maximum sun exposure despite the cool Saar climate. The vines, over 100 years old, dig deep into the slate, extracting minerality that younger vines simply cannot achieve.
In the glass, this Riesling reveals itself with a clear structure: earthy, mineral notes, ripe citrus fruit, and a herbal, slightly spicy undertone. The acidity is present but integrated—not a sharp cut, but a supporting line that underpins the long, saline finish.
