Goldtröpfchen Riesling GG

A Riesling from the Mosel that surprises with tropical fullness: the Goldtröpfchen GG from Nik Weis St. Urbans-Hof focuses on depth and structure rather than restraint.

The winery is based in Leiwen on the Mosel. The Goldtröpfchen is located in nearby Piesport and is one of the most famous steep slopes in the region. GG stands for Großes Gewächs, the top class of vineyard-designated wines in the VDP. The site clearly shapes the wine, as the exoticism in the fruit is its trademark.

The nose reveals tropical fruits and cassis, accompanied by herbal-spicy notes such as green tea and mint. On the palate, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, and red currant continue. The wine appears full-bodied and carried by a deep structure.

Serve it at 10–12 °C in a large white wine glass. It goes well with shrimp with mango and chili, Thai curry with coconut milk, fried salmon, or mature mountain cheese.
