Schoden Saarfeils Riesling GG

Schoden Saarfeils Riesling GG
The Schoden Saarfeils Riesling GG comes from one of the most exciting vineyard sites in the Saar region — and you can taste it. Clear minerality, firm acidity, long finish: a Riesling that needs time and rewards it.
Nik Weis runs the St. Urbans-Hof winery, now in its third generation. The Saarfeilser vineyard near Schoden is among the best in the Saar region: blue slate soils, steep slopes, and a cool microclimate. These conditions produce Rieslings with the typical Saar tension – low alcohol, high intensity, and tremendous length.
In the glass, the GG displays aromas of white peach, lemon zest, and freshly broken slate. The acidity is precise and sinewy, without being sharp. The finish lingers on the palate with a salty-mineral note—a testament to its origin on genuine steep-slope slate. With some bottle aging (from 2026 onwards), the wine will open up to greater complexity.
