Schoden Saarfeils Riesling GG

Schoden Saarfeils Riesling GG
The Schoden Saarfeils Riesling GG comes from one of the most exciting sites on the Saar — and you can taste it. Clear minerality, taut acidity, long finish: a Riesling that needs time and rewards it.
Nik Weis runs the St. Urbans-Hof winery in the third generation. The Saarfeilser site near Schoden is one of the best on the Saar: blue slate soils, steep slope, cool microclimate. Exactly these conditions provide Rieslings with the typical Saar tension — low alcohol, lots of pressure, enormous length.
In the glass, the GG shows aromas of white peach, lemon zest, and freshly broken slate stones. The acidity is precise and sinewy, without being sharp. The finish extends far into the palate with a salty-mineral note — a sign of its origin from genuine steep-slope slate. With some bottle aging (from 2026), the wine will open up to greater complexity.
- Food pairing: Grilled zander, sushi, oysters, or goat cheese
- Serving temperature: 10–12 °C
