Markowitsch Grüner Veltliner Old Vines

Grüner Veltliner from old vines – that means more concentrated grapes, more depth and that characteristic interplay between spice and fruit that makes the grape variety so distinctive.

The Markowitsch winery is one of the most reliable wineries in Carnuntum, one of the warmest wine regions in Lower Austria. The old vines here naturally produce smaller yields – and you can taste the difference: more extract, more richness, more length than from newly planted parcels.

In the glass, the wine shines a bright greenish-yellow. The nose reveals citrus, gooseberry, and ripe grapefruit, along with a hint of exotic fruit. On the palate, the typical peppery note comes to the fore – that spicy, slightly peppery finish that distinguishes Grüner Veltliner from every other white wine grape variety. This is complemented by a fine depth and a long, luscious finish.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C . Pairs well with Wiener Schnitzel, pan-fried trout with caper butter, asparagus, or a flavorful mountain cheese. Also a classic combination as an aperitif with chive bread.
