Markowitsch Rubin Carnuntum

The Rubin Carnuntum from Gerhard Markowitsch is a classic example of what this Austrian DAC region can do: pithy red wine fruit, pleasant structure, uncomplicated enjoyment.

The Markowitsch winery is one of the pioneers of the Carnuntum region east of Vienna. Gerhard Markowitsch contributed significantly to Carnuntum being recognized as an independent DAC region in 2019. The Rubin Carnuntum is the regional lead variety – a cross between Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch, which is grown exclusively in Carnuntum.

In the glass, a rich ruby red appears. The nose brings Morello cherry, black cherry, and dark berries, plus a fine chocolate tone in the background. On the palate, soft and full, with well-integrated tannins and a long, slightly spicy finish.

  • Temperature: 16–18 °C
  • Food: Tafelspitz, Wiener Schnitzel with cucumber salad, grilled beef sausages, or strong sliced cheese

A red wine for everyday life with regional character – uncomplicated, but no coincidence.

Gerhard Markowitsch drives through his vineyards every day, guided by the rhythm of nature. Organic viticulture, precise vineyard management, and an instinct for the unique characteristics of each individual vineyard – from the Rosenberg vineyard to the Kirchweingarten – are his hallmarks. The result: wines with genuine personality that reflect their origin.
