Markowitsch Göttlesbrunn Red

An approachable local wine from the heart of Carnuntum — Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch from the Göttlesbrunn vineyards Haidacker and Altenberg, matured for 16 months in wooden barrels.

Gerhard Markowitsch is one of the pioneers of Carnuntum, one of Austria's most compact red wine regions east of Vienna. On the Pannonian soils around Göttlesbrunn, Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch grapes thrive, producing powerful, characterful wines with dark fruit and a clearly perceptible structure.

In the glass, the wine displays aromas of black cherry and blackberry, underpinned by a hint of clove and subtle oak spice from barrel aging. The palate is full-bodied with soft tannins; the 16 months of maturation have integrated the fruit beautifully. A medium-long, pleasantly dry finish.

Serving suggestion: Drink now, until approximately 2026. Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Pairs well with roast pork with red cabbage, grilled lamb ribs, or a spicy hard cheese such as mountain cheese or Manchego.
