La Côte des Monts Damnés Sancerre Blanc

La Côte des Monts Damnés Sancerre Blanc
The Monts Damnés is one of the most coveted sites in Sancerre — steep, chalky, with Kimmeridgian soils that give the Sauvignon Blanc a depth you can feel immediately in the glass. Brochard consistently taps into this potential.
The Domaine Hubert Brochard has been cultivating sites around Chavignol in the heart of the Sancerrois for generations. The Côte des Monts Damnés — translated roughly as "Slope of the Damned" — gets its name from its extreme steepness and hard limestone rock, which makes life difficult for the vines but gives the wine character.
A clear straw yellow appears in the glass. The nose brings gooseberry, white grapefruit, and a hint of green almond — typical for Sancerre from chalky soils. On the palate, a lively, firmly integrated acidity defines the performance: no sharp acidity, but structure. The finish is long, slightly mineral-salty, with a touch of flint. Not a lush wine, but a precise one.
Serving temperature 10–12 °C.
Pairs with: Goat cheese from the Loire (Crottin de Chavignol is the classic combination), grilled sea bass, ceviche, or a simple vegetable risotto with herbs.

In the heart of Sancerre – where the hills of the Loire sweep towards the horizon in sweeping lines – the Brochard family has been cultivating for generations what makes this appellation so distinctive: Sauvignon Blanc of mineral precision and Pinot Noir with velvety depth.
Hubert Brochard shaped the winery with a keen sense of terroir and craftsmanship. The wines tell the story of the flint and limestone beneath the vines – fresh, vibrant, unmistakably Loire.
