Château de Fontaine Audon Sancerre Blanc Silex

Château de Fontaine Audon Sancerre Blanc Silex
A Sancerre from the pebbly rock – grown on the so-called silex (flint) soils , which clearly distinguish this wine style from the chalk and limestone terroirs of the appellation. Domaine Hubert Brochard manages Château de Fontaine Audon in the heart of the Sancerre region on the upper Loire.
In the glass, this Sauvignon Blanc reveals itself as subdued: less gooseberry, more citrus peel, flint, and a slightly salty finish – the classic hallmark of the silex vineyards. The acidity is firm but not sharp, the texture more pronounced than in chalk cuvées from the same appellation.
Drinking window: from now until 2028. Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Pairs well with Loire goat cheese (Crottin de Chavignol is not a must, but hard to beat), sea bass with fennel or light seafood.
In the heart of Sancerre – where the hills of the Loire sweep towards the horizon in sweeping lines – the Brochard family has been cultivating for generations what makes this appellation so distinctive: Sauvignon Blanc of mineral precision and Pinot Noir with velvety depth.
Hubert Brochard shaped the winery with a keen sense of terroir and craftsmanship. The wines tell the story of the flint and limestone beneath the vines – fresh, vibrant, unmistakably Loire.
