Gillo Dorfes Aglianico

Aglianico from Cilento — robust, structured, with the potential for long aging. The Gillo Dorfles demonstrates what this southern Italian grape variety is capable of when given time.

San Salvatore lies in the heart of the Cilento National Park in the province of Salerno, Campania. The winery practices organic viticulture and focuses on indigenous grape varieties such as Aglianico, Fiano, and Greco. The Gillo Dorfles wine is named after the Italian art critic and philosopher born in 1910—a reference to its depth and distinctiveness.

After 24 months of aging in French oak barrels, the wine displays a deep ruby red color. The nose offers aromas of sour cherry and blueberry jam, along with pink peppercorns, cinnamon, and a hint of licorice. On the palate, it is warm and dense, with velvety tannins and a precise acidity that ensures freshness and length. The finish is spicy and long, with a slightly mineral aftertaste.
