Quater Vitis Rosso Terre Siciliane IGT
Four Sicilian grape varieties in one bottle: Nero d'Avola, Perricone, Frappato and Nerello Cappuccio combine to form Firriato's Quater Vitis, a red wine that explores the full stylistic range of the island.
Firriato has been cultivating several estates in Sicily since the 1990s, including vineyards on Mount Etna and in the west of the island near Trapani. The focus is on indigenous grape varieties—the Quater Vitis blends four of them into a cuvée under the Terre Siciliane IGT designation of origin.
In the glass, a deep ruby red with a violet rim. The nose offers ripe cherry, blackberry, and plum, underpinned by cocoa powder and a hint of dried herbs. On the palate, it is full-bodied and smooth, the tannins are ripe and seamless, and the acidity keeps it lively. A long, slightly spicy finish with dark fruit.
Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Pairs well with pasta al ragù, grilled lamb with rosemary, caponata, or medium-aged pecorino cheese. Also a simple and enjoyable accompaniment on its own for the evening.
