Faustino V Reserve
The Faustino V Reserva shows what Rioja has stood for for decades: structured fruit, oak with moderation, and a finish that doesn't let go immediately.
The Faustino winery is one of the most well-known addresses in Rioja Alta. Family-owned since the 1860s, it has helped shape the region's Reserva style – long wood aging, followed by further bottle storage before the wine goes on sale. For the Faustino V, this is a total of 18 months in oak barrels.
In the glass, a Tempranillo Reserva shows with pickled cherry and ripe blackberries, underscored by subtle roasted notes and a hint of vanilla from the oak. The acidity remains lively, carries the fruit, and prevents the wine from appearing heavy. Tannins are present but well-integrated – the result of controlled barrel aging.
Serving recommendation: Best served at 16–18 °C. Pairs well with leg of lamb with rosemary, grilled Ibérico pork, or a mature Manchego.

The Bodega
Bodegas Faustino is one of the great names of the Rioja – founded in 1861 in Oyón, managed today in the fourth generation, and long since a global brand. The winery stands for patience and continuity: wines only come onto the market when they have reached their perfect maturity.
On around 650 hectares in the Rioja Alavesa, on calcareous soil and in the cool Atlantic climate, Tempranillo, Graciano, Mazuelo, and Viura grow. The Faustino I Gran Reserva is considered the best-selling Gran Reserva in the world – and its unmistakable label with Rembrandt's portrait of the merchant Nicolaes van Bambeeck has become a symbol for Rioja's excellence.
