Faustino V Reserve

The Faustino V Reserva shows what Rioja has stood for for decades: structured fruit, oak used in moderation and a finish that doesn't let go immediately.

The Faustino winery is one of the most renowned estates in Rioja Alta. Family-owned since the 1860s, it has significantly shaped the region's Reserva style – long aging in oak barrels, followed by further bottle aging before release. For the Faustino V, this amounts to a total of 18 months in oak barrels.

In the glass, this Tempranillo Reserva reveals aromas of preserved cherry and ripe blackberries, underpinned by subtle toasty notes and a hint of vanilla from the oak. The lively acidity supports the fruit and prevents the wine from feeling heavy. Tannins are present but well-integrated – a result of controlled barrel aging.

Serving suggestion: Best served at 16–18 °C. Pairs well with leg of lamb with rosemary, grilled Ibérico pork, or a mature Manchego cheese. Drink now until 2028.

Faustino

Bodegas Faustino is one of Rioja's leading wineries – founded in Oyón in 1861, now in its fourth generation of family ownership, and a global brand. The winery stands for patience and consistency: wines are only released when they have reached their perfect ripeness. Tempranillo, Graciano, Mazuelo, and Viura grapes thrive on approximately 650 hectares in the Rioja Alavesa region, in calcareous soil and a cool Atlantic climate. The Faustino I Gran Reserva is considered the world's best-selling Gran Reserva, and its distinctive label, featuring Rembrandt's portrait of the merchant Nicolaes van Bambeeck, has become a symbol of Rioja's excellence.
