Every Riesling from the Dr. Loosen winery is meant to "reflect its origin." For Ernst "Ernie" Loosen, the motto is: terroir takes precedence over technology, and wine quality over quantity. One secret lies in the advanced age of the vines and the very low yields they produce. In the cellar, cellar master Bernhard Schug ensures slow fermentation without cultured yeasts, no fining, and minimal wine movement. The Dr. Loosen winery has owned vineyards in the Bernkasteler Lay, Erdener Treppchen, and Ürziger Würzgarten for over 200 years. These sites, with their unique terroir and microclimate, are prime locations for Riesling. For many years, "Ernie" Loosen has been producing excellent wines from these sites, characterized by their concentrated fruit, outstanding potential, and high degree of typicity.

The German winery is located in the Palatinate region and is managed by Dr. Ernst F. Loosen. Its 22 hectares of vineyards are divided among six different sites, including the Wehlener Sonnenuhr, the Erdener Treppchen, and the Graacher Himmelreich. The slate soils act as excellent heat reservoirs for cool nights, and the Moselle River reflects sunlight onto the steep slopes where the grapes ripen. The winery cultivates and uses almost exclusively Riesling grapes for its production. Only 2% of the wines are made from Pinot Noir varieties, with occasional use of Cabernet Sauvignon or Dornfelder. The family-run business produces up to 180,000 bottles of wine annually.
