El Coto Rioja Crianza

El Coto Rioja Crianza
A classic Rioja that shows why American oak and Tempranillo go so well together: warm, structured, with a lingering finish.
El Coto de Rioja is among the most renowned wineries in the region. The grapes for this Crianza come from Rioja Alavesa —calcareous soils known for producing firmer, more mineral Tempranillo wines than the sandy slopes of Rioja Baja. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine matures for 12 to 14 months in 225-liter American oak barrels , followed by at least six more months of bottle aging. Mundus Vini awarded it a gold medal in 2019, and James Suckling gave the 2015 vintage 90 points.
In the glass, it displays aromas of dark cherry, plum, and vanilla , along with the typical coconut and wood spice of American oak. The tannins are softly integrated, the body medium to full-bodied, and the finish pleasantly long with a hint of roasted notes.
