Clos Plince Pomerol

A Pomerol that focuses on precision and slenderness instead of power: The Clos Plince from Château Gombaude-Guillot combines Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon into a red wine with fine structure and silky texture.

The winery is located in Pomerol, the small appellation area on the right bank of the Bordeaux region, where Merlot and Cabernet Franc are primarily at home. In such a cuvée, Merlot typically contributes roundness, Cabernet Franc spice and freshness, and Cabernet Sauvignon structure.

In the glass, the wine shows an intense ruby red with purple reflections. On the nose, black currant, plus a spicy juniper note and a hint of tea. On the palate, it appears well-structured, with a slender, finely drawn body. The acidity is integrated into the silky texture, the finish remains long.

Recommendation: Serve it at 16–18 °C with lamb chops with herbs, duck breast, or strong hard cheese. A short aeration in the decanter underlines the spicy notes.

The Château

Château Gombaude-Guillot

Château Gombaude-Guillot is located in the heart of Pomerol – one of the smallest and most sought-after wine regions in France. On the heavy, clay-rich soil that makes this appellation so special, Merlot in particular grows to its fullest ripeness: velvety, deep, and with a very unique, almost velvety warmth.

The Château has been in family hands for generations and stands for artisanal viticulture that puts the peculiarity of the terroir in the foreground – instead of polishing it to a high gloss. What is created here are wines with real character: complex, honest, and with the calm of someone who knows what they are doing.
